Alejandro Calafat was born in Palma in 1982. He began to study piano at age of 6. He obtained the highest qualification in his studies.


His piano teachers were Andreu Bennàssar, Miquel Estelrich, Manuel Carra and Suzanne Bradbury. He has attended several piano technical courses taught by professors like Dominique Merlet, Ilan Rogoff, Andrzej Jasinski and Josep Colom. He has also taken courses in chamber music, Coral direction, german’s Lied or musical analysis. For the voice and piano he has received advices by teachers like Alejandro Zabala, Marco Evangelisti, Àngel Soler, Mark Hastings and Alan Branch.


In his piano career he has collaborated with Fundació Teatre Principal from Palma in operas and zarzuelas and the Voice’s Contest Manuel Ausensi. He has worked wit Coral Universitària de les Illes Balears and Orquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears where he has been conducted by directors like Joan Company, David Beavan, Julian Kuerti, Edmon Colomer, Philippe Bender and Víctor Pablo Pérez.


He is currently a professor at the Professional Conservatoire of the Illes Balears.
